About Us

Our Mission

United Way of Mid Rural New York builds partnerships and maximizes resources to improve the quality life for local residents in the focus areas of income, education and health.

Our Goals

  • Improve education and cut the number of high school dropouts — 1.2 million students, every year — in half.
  • Help people achieve financial stability and get 1.9 million working families — half the number of lower-income families who are financially unstable — on the road to economic independence.
  • Promote healthy lives and increase by one-third the number of youth and adults who are healthy and avoid risky behaviors.

These goals are ambitious, but with your help, and by utilizing our core strengths — a national network, committed partners and public engagement capacity — we can achieve them.

Our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Statement

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Statement (approved by CUW November 2020)
At the United Way, we must all do our part to make our communities the places that we need them to be – equitable, respectful, inclusive and opportunity-filled. We can- and must- do better to guarantee that the basic human rights and freedoms of every person in every community are protected.

We embrace and value diversity, equity, and inclusion for every person in every community by:

•    Taking the broadest possible view on diversity;
•    Valuing the visible and invisible qualities of our community;
•    Welcoming every person who brings a unique perspective and experience that helps to advance our mission
•    Providing all community members with equal access to both give and receive in solving community problems;
•    Striving to include diversity, equity, and inclusion at the center of our daily work.

Anti-Harassment and Anti-Discrimination Policy (approved by the CUW October 2018)
Harassment because of and discrimination against persons of all protected classes is prohibited at the United Way of Mid Rural New York and in NYS. Such classes include race, creed, color, national origin, sexual orientation, military status, sex, disability, marital status, domestic violence victim status, gender identity and criminal history.
